Reflection on Module 3 Project 1

Photo Bucket Album

This project brought out my creative photography skills. I had to think of every element and principle separately and take the time to find the perfect pictures. I went all around my local parks to get the basic elements out of the way like space and shapes. The ones I struggled with a bit were actually the ones I thought were going to be the easiest, like movement and pattern. I loved this project because I love to take pictures. Even though it was almost zero degrees the days I took these pictures in the parks, it was still worth it because I love the pictures that I took. I feel as if they grasp the concept of each element or principle they represent.

  1. Holly,

After looking through your photos for this project, it is clear that you really took the time to think these elements and principles through before you went out to shoot the photos. I particularly like the fact that you went out of your way on a cold day to go and get all of these photos, as I was a little too chicken and took all of mine inside my house. I thought it was interesting to read that you struggled with the things that you thought would be easy like movement and pattern because I struggled with the same as well and they were actually both my last photos that I took. While I did like all of your unique photos, a couple that really stood out to me where bricks for texture, the empty road for balance, and the pine trees for space. To start with the bricks for texture, I really like the texture that is on the bricks, it is something that I have never seen before and it really makes you wish you where there so you could touch them. For the empty road for balance, this was an excellent idea for this photo because it seems as if the road goes on forever while basically being a mirrored image on both sides. Finally for the pine trees as space, I thought it was creative that you chose to do pine trees for this photo because it is something that requires space to grow properly and I thought that was interesting that you were able to use that for this photo. I think you did a great job for this project, and I also love to take pictures being that I use to be a photography major and it was nice to finally take staged pictures again.

    Great job!

  2. Holly,
I think you did a great job capturing all the elements in your pictures. Most of the pictures, before I even read the title I could tell which element you were trying to display, which personally I even found quite difficult to do. I also had to laugh when I saw your picture for texture, using a brick wall. I used an almost identical picture in my album as well for a different element, so it was interesting witnessing how several elements are used together.
